Where to Watch England’s World Cup, thats the big question! Watching England at a World Cup is not really about the football. Or rather, it is entirely about the football, but also about finding the right place to be when it all goes sideways in the 87th minute, and the person next to you grabs your arm, and somehow you end up ordering another round before you have even thought about it.
You need a big screen. You need food worth eating. You need a bar that can actually handle a room full of people at 9pm on a Tuesday in June. And if you are in east London, there is an obvious answer.
Watch the World Cup at Draughts

Draughts, Stratford, thats Where to Watch England

We are at 5 Aquatics Walk, inside Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Four screens, three of them over 120 inches. Tables are bookable by game. Full house for England matches. The kind of atmosphere that makes the whole evening feel like it was worth it.
England’s three group stage games kick off at 9pm or 10pm BST – Croatia on 17 June, Ghana on 23 June, Panama on 27 June. All evening. All very much the right time to be somewhere good.
The food
The kitchen was designed for groups settling in for a long session, which makes it almost suspiciously well-suited for match nights.

The Nachos Grande (£20) – corn tortilla chips, nacho cheese, guacamole, lime crema, chipotle salsa, queso, pickled onions – is the obvious table order the moment you sit down. So is the Sampler Platter (£35): corndogs, empanadas, halloumi fries, flatbread, tortilla chips, cheese sauce, hummus, guacamole, padrón peppers and olives. Order it, spread it across the table, and let people pick at it for ninety minutes. That is the correct approach to watching football.
If you want a proper meal: the Short Rib Birria Tacos (£13.25) are slow-cooked rare breed beef in a chilli and lime broth with a consommé dip – the kind of thing that deserves better than being eaten while your eyes are on a screen, but tastes even better that way. The Hot Honey Chicken Bao (£16.25) – crispy shredded chicken, hot honey, gochujang mayo, fresh slaw in steamed buns – is brilliant. So is the Double Smashed Cheese Burger (£17.50) if you need something to anchor yourself before a tense second half.
For something lighter to pick at through the game: Korean Fried Chicken (£9.50) in a sticky soy and gochujang glaze with citrus mayo, or Halloumi Fries (£8.95) with preserved lemon and chilli jam. Both disappear quickly.
The kids menu is there too – this is a proper evening out for families, not just groups of adults.
The drinks

Three bars. And the pitchers were built for exactly this.
The Margarita pitcher (£30) is the call if the game is going well. The Dark & Stormy (£25.95 – dark rum, ginger beer, lime) is the call if it is not. On draught: House Lager (£7.25), Camden Pale Ale (£7.50), Camden Eazy IPA (£7.75), Mahou (£7.50). Cocktails include the Picante (tequila, lime, agave, coriander, Tabasco – £12.95) and the Pawnstar Martini (vodka, passionfruit, vanilla, lime – £13.25).
Not drinking? The non-alcoholic cocktail menu includes an AF Mojito, AF Mai Tai, Ruby Refresher and Rosemary Apple Crush (all £8.25). Lucky Saint 0.5% and Corona Cero 0.0% are also available.
Getting here
Stratford station is a five-minute walk – Elizabeth line, Central line, London Overground and National Rail all stop there. From central London you are twelve minutes on the Elizabeth line. There is no easier venue to get to in east London while still feeling properly out of the centre.

The terrace is open before and after each game. Come early, eat properly, watch the football. There are worse ways to spend a summer evening in east London.
